Next week is National Learning at Work Week, and every year we get excited about the opportunities that coincide with this awareness week. It’s the perfect opportunity for L&D professionals to put the spotlight on learning in the workplace. Do you have anything planned?
Started in 1999 (initially as Learning at Work Day) by the Campaign for Learning, next week promotes an inclusive approach and supports the extension of opportunities to learn to all employees.
And we’re not just encouraging other organisations to get involved. We’re all about personal and professional development within Bray Leino Learning, and are encouraging all of our staff to learn something new. Some of us will be attending workshops or lectures, some learning a new skill online, and others will be utilising social learning to discover new knowledge from their colleagues.
Learning at Work Week supports this kind of development and encourages organisations to take part in their own way in order to:
- Change attitudes to learning at work
- Increase awareness of opportunities to learn
- Improve employee engagement
- Inform employees of business and learning and development strategies
- Unveil opportunities to discover and recognise internal talent
- Provide greater recognition and value of different ways to learn in the workplace
- Highlight business priorities, agendas and future changes
- Address workplace silos and bridge information gaps
It’s not too late for your organisation to get involved! Perhaps you can run an internal workshop, do some knowledge sharing or raise awareness of the internal training opportunities available to your people.
